Desktop Connector V16.8.0.2169 Brings Big Improvements for Inventor Users

Inventor File Support Now Available

Desktop Connector now seamlessly integrates with Inventor files stored in Autodesk Docs, joining the existing support for Fusion and Drive connectors. This means you can leverage the Desktop Connector’s functionalities for managing and collaborating on your Inventor projects.

Enhanced Inventor Project Functionality

This update brings welcome improvements to Inventor project functionality within Desktop Connector. You can now leverage Inventor files directly within the Desktop Connector environment.

Improved Reference Handling

A new feature prompts you to select an IPJ file (Inventor Project File) when using the Upload Files and References Tool. This ensures proper reference resolution for your Inventor projects.

Reference Identification Fix

An issue that prevented Desktop Connector from identifying references while using Inventor and Vault has been resolved. This ensures a smoother workflow when working with both applications.

OldVersions Folder Cleanup

Desktop Connector now excludes temporary files from being uploaded to the Inventor OldVersions folder. This keeps your project workspace organized and reduces unnecessary uploads.

File History Maintained During Editing

The ability to edit and save Inventor files directly within the Desktop Connector v16.x project workspace has been enhanced. This update ensures that your file history is maintained, allowing you to track changes and revert if necessary.

Support for Latest Inventor and Solidworks Files

Desktop Connector now offers support for Inventor 2025 and Solidworks 2024 files. This ensures compatibility with your latest design software.

    • We’ve fixed a bug that caused the Welcome Screen to appear multiple times. Now, you’ll see it just once, just like it should be.
  • ArcGIS Uploads Made Easy (CDX-23974)

    • An issue that prevented “.save” files from uploading to ArcGIS is now resolved. Uploading should be seamless from now on.
  • Home Screen Harmony (CDX-23994)

    • We’ve addressed a bug that caused conflicts to appear on your home screen even when there weren’t any conflicts on disk. This was especially common when uploading a large number of files.
  • AutoCAD DWG: Error-Free Interaction (CDX-23738)

    • Say goodbye to the “Application Error” message when working with AutoCAD DWG files. This bug has been squashed!

Important Information for Desktop Connector Users

  • Desktop Connector v16.x Required for Certain Products

    • The recent Autodesk 2025 launch requires Desktop Connector v16.x for some products. Confirmed products include AutoCAD, Civil, Plant 3D, ReCap, and Revit. Please refer to your specific product documentation for more details.
  • Temporary Increase in Desktop Connector Size

    • The size of Desktop Connector versions v16.7.0.2155, v16.7.1.2164, and v16.8.0.2169 has increased due to new components needed to support the latest Autodesk applications. We understand this might be an inconvenience, and rest assured, we’re working on reducing the installation size back to its previous levels soon.
