GoToINVENTOR.

I have found in GoToINVENTOR something that caught my attention:  “feature-based translation”.

Check out their page here.

I have worked in Solidworks in the past, currently working with Inventor, and have always hoped there was a way to translate the part files into Inventor with all the features intact.  I’m not a computer programmer, so my thought that “the features and dimensions should be able to be converted just because they are similar” is a bit naïve.

I was surprised to see that GoToINVENTOR definitely does that conversion, but it does so much more as well.  I was jaw-dropped to see that you can translate parts, assemblies, and drawings into Inventor.  What’s more: the associativity in the drawing is intact as well.

Link to the page above and watch the video; it is eye-opening.  This doesn’t just work with Solidworks, but several other CAD programs as well.  Your libraries can all be converted to feature bases part files with associative drawings.  This can be used to consolidate and standardize your CAD files into Inventor whether you are converting to a new CAD software as a company or you are just consolidating customer and vendor files.

I hope this information helps and gets you pointed in the right direction.
