In the past I have discussed creating an Autodesk Civil 3D surface utilizing a scanned point cloud, in LAS format, that contained point classifications. In particular, I talked about using Map 3D to create a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) file, filtering out ground classified points and then using that DEM. You can view that discussion here.

There is an easier way to do this, as was shown to me by one of our customers, and I am sharing this method with you. This method still requires the conversion from LAS to Autodesk ReCap .RCP format, which still honors the classification attributes.
