Important Autodesk Updates

Today, I would like to bring to your attention a couple of crucial, recent Autodesk updates. So, let’s dive right in!

1. Autodesk Licensing Service (14.0.0.10160)

This one is very important as the Licensing Service is a licensing component that works with versions 2020 and later of Autodesk software. A new version of this (14.0.0.10160)  became available on Nov. 28, 2023.  This new update is available in THIS LOCATION. This release includes important security fixes that address several vulnerabilities across different operating systems.

Summary of Improvements and Fixes:

Windows:

  • Updated LibCurl to 8.4.0 (Reference: CVE-2023-38309, CVE-2023-28321, CVE-2023-38545)

Windows and MacOS:

  • Updated Qt to 5.15.15
  • Updated OpenSSL to 1.1.1w
  • Updated CryptoPP to 8.9.0
  • Updated Protobuf to 25.0

Autodesk Licensing Service updates are cumulative and contain all changes from previously released updates. Autodesk strongly recommends installing the latest available version of the Autodesk Licensing Service for better reliability and performance.

2. Autodesk Revit 2024 (24.2.0.63)

On Nov. 8th, 2023, this latest version of Revit 2024 was released. This update resolves an issue with the extensible storage schema that impacts addons and projects upgraded to Revit 2024. Version 2024.2 is compatible with the previous 2024.1.1 update. 2024.2 and 2024.1.1 can be used concurrently for project work.

The 2024.1.1 and 2024.2 updates are important for work-sharing users. It is essential that all project team members are using these releases of Revit or newer. This prevents the potential reintroduction of the extensible storage schema problem to models worked on in versions of Revit prior to 2024.1.1.

After this update is applied successfully, the build information specified on the Help > About dialog will be:

  • 24.2.0.63
  • 20231029_1515(x64)
  • 2024.2

Something to note:

During installation of Revit 2024.2 Update, a prompt for installation source may occur with message: “The installed product does the match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronized, this action can not be performed.” The cause of this message is due to an unexpected value for Revit 2024 package code in the Windows Registry compared to the installed Revit 2024 version. As of November 27 we have repackaged and republished the Revit 2024.2 Update to include the packagecode fix to avoid the message and any manual process to repair the existing Revit 2024 installation. However, if you do encounter this message the tool can be ran manually by running the Revit 2024 package code correction tool and then run the Revit 2024.2 update installation once again.

All of the enhancements for Revit 2024.2 can be found HERE.

Likewise, all of the issues addressed with this release are located HERE.

As always, I hope you have found this information to be useful!
